Who We Are

Families Flourish ND (FFND) envisions a world in which all children are nurtured and safe, with no child abuse or neglect.

Mission

Empowering families to thrive by providing community-driven resources that foster safe and nurturing environments for children.

Vision

FFND’s vision is to support safe and nurturing environments, free from abuse and neglect, for all children.

History

In the late 1970’s, a groups of North Dakotans came together, united by the belief that all children deserve to feel cherished, nurtured, and eempowered. Through this shared mission to champion those who need it most, these innovators formed Parents Anonymous North Dakota in 1978. This marked the first step in creating a supportive community where families could find strength and overcome challenges together.

Over the next couple of decades, as awareness grew, so too did the scope of their efforts. Now in their 45th year, the organization has evolved—emerging stronger than ever. While sustaining robust prevention work, their new identity signals an invigorated vision to not simply keep children safe, but to actively strengthen families so they can thrive. With numerous resources, professional training, community partnerships and relentless advocacy, they are building a brighter future where all North Dakota families have the support to flourish and every childhood is cherished.

We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization and a chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America.

Objectives

FFND is dedicated to strengthening families and preventing child abuse and neglect, particularly in North Dakota. Our organization was founded in 1978, and in earlier days we were known as Parents Anonymous and the North Dakota Committee to Prevent Child Abuse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization and a chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America.

Objectives

  • Inform the public that the prevention of abuse and neglect decreases lifelong adverse medical and emotional consequences for children.

  • Advocate for a continuum of services, access to those services, and statewide capacity to meet the developmental needs of children and families.

  • Deliver evidence-based strategies that enable communities to provide for children and families.

Programs

Our primary prevention programs seek to curb abuse and neglect before it happens. We educate caregivers and professionals, and guide community members on how to support children and families. Learn more here.
